Two Penguins

My name is Megan. I have a husband, Nick, and we are the proud parents of two crazy dogs. We live in Kentucky, and we love it. I'm trying to bring style into our home one project at a time.

I ♥ FALL!

So today it is a very lovely 75 degrees here in my neck of the woods and I am LOVING it. The last few days have been very mild, temperature wise and it is signaling the beginning of Autumn. There are many things I love about this time of year and so I've decided to make a list.
1. FALL FASHION
-I love all things fall in fashion. The colors are amazing, the fabrics are richer and above all else I adore boots. Be it booties, over the knee or or just mid calf -I love boots. I also enjoy having the option to wear pants again and this year I especially love plaid. This fall I will be experimenting with an edgier look, but in the grand scheme of things fall ALWAYS inspires me to be bold with my fashion choices. Just so you know, I WILL be purchasing a pair of grey suede over-the-knee boots this year.
I also very much enjoy dark nail colors, which seem so much more appropriate in the cooler months. Fall also means I can stop highlighting my hair and go for a more sophisticated deep brown. My husband looks forward to the change in hair color every autumn.
I could go on, but the intricacies of my love for fall fashion might bore.
2. THE ORCHARD
-Where I live there is a certain orchard that everyone goes to in the fall. I love going with my husband to get apple cider, take a hay ride, pet the animals, pick our own pumpkins and eat an apple dumpling. There is nothing I love more.
3. YANKEE CANDLE
-At no other time of year(well maybe Christmas) do I invest more in the Yankee Candle company than in the fall... I love their fall smells every year. This year my favorite so far has been Black Cat. It smells very strongly like patchouli, which my husband loves(we are hippies at heart). My other favorites include Pumpkin Pie, Autumn Leaves, Autumn Wreath and Almond Cookie. I use the tarts with a burner. I am buying another burner on Friday, seeing as how Fall scents are buy one get one 50% off :)
4. HALLOWEEN
-Love love love it. Who doesn't, really??
5. TAILGATING
-Since I am now Alumni I enjoy it that much more. Homecoming is the best! Plus, I love beer.
6. COOLER WEATHER
-Why not?

Day 8

So I've been doing P90X for 8 days now. The first three days I was so sore I could barely walk or lift my hand to my face. I think that's the secret though! I couldn't lift my hands to feed myself, LOL! But seriously, the workouts are intense. The most extreme so far has been Plyometrics. It was hard to get through it but I did it.

Today I did Kenpo X. It was difficult, but I found that my endurance is getting better everyday. And even when I felt like I wanted to stop I kept saying to myself, "YOU want this, so DO IT!" I know that might sound crazy but it's what gets me through my workouts.
The other thing that kept me from giving up was envisioning myself ACTUALLY kicking someone in the face. Particularly this bitch I work with. Seeing her face getting cracked by my foot made me hit that much harder. LOL! I don't have rage issues, do I? :)

I've also had tons of amazing support from my husband. He is wonderful and really pushes me to keep going. Everyday he tells me how proud he is of me.
I hear alot of people say, "Yea I tried P90X but I quit. It was too hard" and that makes me want to scream. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EASY. That's why they call it X.

I'm struggling a little with my weight, actually gaining 2 lbs since my start but I'm trying not to panic. The UPS man that delivers to my place of employment is currently my P90X buddy and we talk about it every day. He has reassured me that it's only because I'm gaining muscle and not because I'm getting fat. I can't help but worry though...
In the end I think I will be happy with the results.

Until next time!

P90X!!!

So I've decided that I'm going to blog about my journey through P90X.

Day 1: Chest and Back

HOLY COW, BOYS AND GIRLS! Haha! Wow, that workout was intense, to say the least. I can barely type this right now. My arms are soooo worn out. I hope I don't have to lift anything tomorrow. Honestly, I feel so empowered now that I made it through such a crazy workout. Now I feel like I can do any of the workouts in th series. I can't wait to see the results after 90 days.

I started this because I wanted to look good for Halloween, lol. I want to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader this year and that little outfit is a tad skimpy. I've wanted to dress up like that for the last few Halloweens and have been too intimidated but THIS year I want to be that girl, in the costume ROCKIN it!!

So before my arms give out, Ill wrap this up. Day 1 went well and I can't wait for Day 2. I'm so ready to rip myself apart. BRING IT.
