Black, white and grey all over

 

So recently, the guest bathroom in my house has been driving me CRAZY. You see, normally I would not be one to enjoy things of the black and white persuasion but for some reason when I went to decorate this tiny water closet I went that route.  I bought a black, white and grey shower curtain, grey hand towels, white bath towels, grey rug and then for Christmas I got a black and white framed picture of Audrey Hepburn.

At first I wasn’t crazy about the look, but as of late I have been down right OBSESSED with grey.  Light, dark, heather, I love it all!  So I think a paint makeover is in my near future.  I really want to paint the teeny beeny little walls a nice light grey and then do a glossy circle trellis pattern all over the walls.  Who knows!  What I do know, is that the current brownish color that’s in there right now does NOT in any way look chic or nice. 

I’m just really over brown.  Don’t get me wrong, a nice deep chocolate color with some crisp white and maybe a soft color for a pop is nice but this generic, light brown crap is for the birds.

It really does look like gross cardboard. It’s gotta go, folks!!!

Maybe this weekend??  We shall see!!

The Shining

So today I was home for lunch and happened upon this movie playing on TV.  I know it is a strange movie, but I can't help but love it.  If you've never seen it, I highly suggest you get your paws on a copy of it asap.  I spent the better part of a whole semester watching, discussing and researching this movie and one of the things I love the most is the way the hotel is decorated.  Don't get me wrong, some of it is hideous and most of it is dated but I just love it.

As I am writing this post, husband asked what I was looking at and when I said, "pictures of the shining" he said, "I love the way it's all decorated" OMG, we are meant to be!  I almost lost my shit.
Anyway, although I couldn't find all my fave pics I will show a few.

Shimmering Gold Ballroom

I think part of the reason I love this movie is because it is set in a hotel, and I am a huge fan of extravagent hotels.  I also love things with history and a story and the hotel in The Shining has lots of history.  Here are some of my fave shots, all obtained through this website.  He has some very good observations about the film, if you are interested!

I know it's a little strange, but really and truly I love the inside of the "hotel".  It resonates with me and I'm not entirely sure why.

Lists.

Lists are by far one of my favorite things to make. They give me a sense of order, plus if I didn't make one every day I would never remember to do ANYTHING. Also, a list on my iPhone is not as stress relieving as a hand written list on a small legal pad. But seeing as how I'm currently at work, an e-list will have to do. So here it is...

The List of Things I Want to Do This Weekend but Could Never Accomplish in Just ONE Weekend!!

1. Make a sign resembling this one from Sugarboo Designs.
2. Post my book wreath DIY project
3. Paint the small vanity in our guest bath a pristine and glossy white
4. Begin the process of cleaning the front bedroom, which is a total disaster area.
Then convert it into an office.
5. Gather and price things for future yard sale(!)
6. Do mounds of laundry
7. Actually put laundry away in proper spots
8. Eat my weight in FRESH bruschetta..yummm

Other than that I may lay by a pool somewhere, take my dogs walking or maybe just nap. Who knows! The weekend is my oyster!!!
